Obituary

Funeral services for James Madison Hickson, age 88 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Derrick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hickson passed away Wednesday morning in Donalson Skill Care Center.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late John H. and Mattie Mae Kilpatrick Hickson. Mr. Hickson retired from the Coca Cola Company after 32 years doing machine maintenance and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Ora Bates Hickson of Fayetteville, brother Fred Hickson of Fayetteville, sister Johnnie Mae Tucker of Fayetteville and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hickson was preceded in death by brother Roy Hickson and two sisters Ruth Morgan and Mary Hall.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

    We are very sorry to hear about the passing of James. He and his wife were very kind to my father and helped him when he had fallen in his yard. They would also check on him when they did not see him leave the house for days. Great neighbors. May God bless James and provide comfort to those he left behind.

    I am so sorry to hear of James passing. He was a great person & friend who would help anyone in need with a smile. He could fix any type of coke machine. He was given a gift. I enjoyed working with James. He will be missed.
