Funeral services for Mr. Jacob Price Nicely, Jr., age 85 of Fayetteville will be conducted Saturday at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens beside wife Betty Hayes Nicely who passed away March 28th. Mr. and Mrs. Nicely would have been married 64 years June 10, 2010. Mr. Nicely passed away Wednesday morning in Donalson Care Center.
He was a native of Allegheny County, VA and was the son of Jacob P. and Marna Nicely. Mr. Nicely was captured at the Battle of the Bulge at age 19, was a veteran of the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and was a wounded POW for which he received the Purple Heart. He was first a barber and then a civil servant for Homestead Air Force Base. He lived in Homestead, FL from 1957 until he retired to Tennessee in 1981. He was a member of the Booneville Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and biking. He was the designer and builder of the first Bicycle built for six.
Survivors include three daughters Arlinda Vess of Fayetteville, Teresa Hall of Ft. Pierce, FL and Terri Faske of Houston, TX, grandchildren Dawn Gregory of Kansas City, MO, David Vess of Harvest, AL, Jacob Faske of Houston, TX, Amanda Hall of St. Louis, MO, Laura Hall of Ft. Pierce, FL, James Faske of Austin, TX, Sara Hall of Ft Pierce, FL, Jessica Hall of Ft. Pierce, FL and Allison Faske of Houston, TX and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Friday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Hospice.
