Obituary

Jack Guyton Jackson passed away peacefully on June 24, 2010, at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.  He was born on February 26, 1924 in Bessemer, AL.  He was preceded in death by parents Mabel Massey and Carl Joseph Jackson and wives Carol Ford Jackson and Hazel Prosser Jackson.

He is survived by sons: William D. (Donna) Jackson of Houston, TX, Carl R. (Sarah) Jackson of Mobile, AL, Mark M. (Judy) Jackson of Deer Park, TX and Clayton F. (Beverly) Jackson of Fayetteville, TN, , three grandsons Major Brett G. (Summer) Jackson of Clarksville, TN, Ethan D. (Jennifer) Jackson of Austin, TX, William B Jackson of Deer Park, TX, four great grandchildren, William Ross, Taydan James, Wesley Daniel and Maddox Guyton.  He is also survived by his brother J. Douglas (Jane) Jackson of Huntsville, AL, his uncle William E. Massey of Homewood, AL and several cousins and many friends.

Jack enlisted in the Marines on December 11, 1942. He joined the First Marine Division at Pavuvu in the Russell Islands in 1944 in time for the invasion of Peleliu and landed with the Seventh Marine Regiment on Okinawa on April 1, 1945.

After being honorably discharged from the Marines in 1946, Jack worked in the auto parts industry all his life owning Fayetteville Auto Parts and then Jackson Hill Sales.

Jack loved his family, the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church (especially his Men’s Sunday School Class), dove hunting, the Rotary Club, Auburn War Eagles and the United States Marine Corp…….Semper Fi!

Graveside services will be held Monday June 28th at 10am at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL with Rev. Allen Black and Rev. Tommy Ward officiating.  Higgins Funeral Home will be in charge of services.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church or Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
