Obituary

Funeral service for Mr. JC Stewart, age 65, of Fayetteville, will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tim McPeters officiating. Burial will follow in Lynchburg Cemetery. Mr. Stewart passed away Thursday at his residence, surrounded by family and friends.

A native of Winchester, TN, he was the son of the late John Carlton and Nell Southerland Stewart, Sr. He was a member of the Bread of Life Baptist Church, a veteran of the Army and Air Force and retired from the National Guard after 21 years of service and was the meat department and store manager for Sav-A-Lot for 14 years. Mr. Stewart was a foster parent for well over 100 children.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Louise Branch Stewart, children Wendy (Danny) Strain, Trey (Sheena) Stewart, William (Brandi) Stewart, Sara Stewart, Shelby Stewart, Samantha Stewart, Tamra Stewart, Brett Stewart, Christina Goolsby, Mary Tigue, grandchildren Brittany Roberts, Shelby Moss, Tyler Moss Tanner Moss, Emma Moss, Sydney Bryant, Madison Stewart, Dayton Stewart, Rylan Stewart, Justyice Stewart, Aalyiah Smith, Eric Scott, Ethan Goolsby, Paige Hone, Jordan Tigue, Eli Tigue, Kaylee Tigue, brothers Kenneth Stewart, Danny Stewart, sisters Judy Mewton, Lucy Nunley, and Patty Layne.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
