A funeral service for Herman Pinegar, Jr., age 83, of Fayetteville, TN will be held at 1 PM on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Higgins Funeral Home with Doug Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday at Higgins.
Herman passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on January 3, 1943, in McMinnville, TN to the late Herman Pinegar, Sr. and Effie Young Pinegar.
A man of steady faith and deep commitment, Herman was a longtime member of the Nazarene Church. He dedicated 47½ years of faithful service as a medical technologist with Lincoln Regional Hospital and Lincoln Medical Center, touching countless lives throughout his career.
Herman’s entire world revolved around his family. He was happily married to the love of his life, Reba, for 61 years. He cared deeply for those around him and held a profound appreciation for order, tradition, and the simple joys of family life.
Herman is survived by his beloved wife, Reba McAfee Pinegar; his daughters, Amy (Doug) Finch and Angela (Tim) Hobbs; and his cherished grandchildren, Seth Finch, Caeli Finch Kaytlin Hobbs, and Dylan Hobbs. In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his sisters, Ofallon Jordan, Dollie Turner, Doshie Hines, and Dorothy Bates.

I remember Herman as being one of the best Christian men I’ve ever known. Also one of the most caring and charitable persons in this world. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
Reba and Angela and family members, I am so very sad to read Herman’s obituary. He was such a gentle soul and I know you are heartbroken. Prayers for God’s comfort and care during such a sad time.
I knew Herman when we were young adults. We became friends, and then came college and we lost touch over the years. My condolences to the family and I am so sorry for your loss. May God give you comfort and healing during this time of grief. Herman was a genuinely good person through and through. There are not a lot of people cut from that cloth. Cherish him deeply.
