Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Helon Thorpe, age 94, of Union City, TN, will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday at Cobbs Chapel Cemetery in Hornbeak, TN. Mrs. Thorpe passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2009, at Donalson Care Center in Fayetteville.

A daughter of the late Edgar and Fannie Church Woodard, she was a native of Fulton, KY, formerly employed with Brown Shoe Co. for 22 years, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter Annie Mefford of Fayetteville, son Bob Thorpe of Fayetteville, 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and nephew Ray Woodard of Union City. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Austin Thorpe who died in 2002 and daughter Barbara Jean Freeland.

Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM until the time of service Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City, TN. There will be no visitation at Higgins Funeral Home.
