Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Harry William Martini, age 90 of Madison, AL, will be conducted
Saturday at 2 pm at Good News Chapel at Belle Terra. Rev. Curtis Silcox will officiate and close family friend. Burial will follow in Belle Terra Cemetery. Mr. Martini passed away Thursday morning in Valley View Rehabilitation Center in Madison, AL.

A native of Portland, OR, Mr. Martini was raised in a close knit Italian community in SE Portland. His father, Henry, and mother, Hazel, owned a grocery store/gas station at 7th and Division. Harry was a Navy Veteran, serving in WW II, a retired high school math teacher and was of the Protestant faith. He was a high school All-Star in both basketball and baseball. Mr. Martini had many hobbies especially golf, but also handball and racquetball. He was an amazing Italian cook even owned his own restaurant in downtown Portland. Mr. Martini was also a pilot, owned his own plane and ran an airplane rental business. His whole life displayed his entrepreneurial spirit and love of making work better. He is well known for his sage investment advise. He loved to counsel others, be it cooking or property. We always kid each other how that within 10 minutes of meeting Harry he’d ask you how much you make and what you weigh. His advise to follow would be on how you should cook, (especially spaghetti sauce or gnocchi) and then how to invest for the long run. His unique sense of humor often showed his intuitive understanding of others. Mr. Martini was a charismatic and inspiring champion for the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lucile (Archer) Martini; daughter Susan (Rick) Scott of Portland, OR; grandchildren Ashley and Jordan Scott, Bridget Martini, Brooke (Justin) Barrowcliff, and Blair Martini: great-grandchild Trevor Barrowcliff; and sister Leota Cutshall of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by son Marc Martini.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 12p.m. – 2 p.m. at the church.
