Burial will follow in Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens beside his loving wife of 40 years, Celia Lancaster Oldham. Visitation with the family will be held Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm at Higgins Funeral Home. Mr. Oldham passed away on Thursday after a short battle with cancer.

Survivors include his four daughters, Katie Lackey and husband Tim, Liz Hammons and husband Keith, Maggie Byrne and husband TJ and Emily Oldham all of Fayetteville. Ten grandchildren, Josh, Rachel, Gus and James Hill, Emma Morar and husband Kensey, Glenn Hammons and wife Kristin, Jim Hammons and wife Lillie, Ellie Williams and husband Cole, Grady and Molly Byrne; five great grandchildren Caroline Morar, William Morar, Shane Hammons, Evy Hammons and Maddie Hammons; and one brother, Chris Oldham and wife Sharon of Lebanon. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Celia and parents, HG and Louise Oldham of Gallatin.

Glenn moved to Fayetteville in 1977 to become an agent with the Lincoln County Farm Bureau. He became the Agency Manager and retired after more than 35 years. Glenn was very active in his community serving on many boards and clubs throughout his lifetime. He was a current member of the Fayetteville Public Utilities Board of Directors, recently achieving NRECA Director Gold certification.

Glenn’s greatest joy in life was his family. Known to many simply as Pa, he coached numerous youth sports teams over the years and left a lasting impact. Nothing made him happier than to have his family gathered around the table sharing a meal. He loved to donate to a good cause. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or simply gather your family around the table and share a meal.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Harold Glenn Oldham.

Big Glenn was an amazing person. Seeing him on Sundays or after games up until I left for college always brought me such joy. Always a great conversation and laugh to be had with him. He made me feel apart of the family each time I tagged along with Glenn or TJ. I will miss him dearly.

So very sorry to hear this news and for your great loss! Glenn and I became acquainted many years ago when he became my insurance agent and friend. I always found Glenn to be a man of strong character. I always looked forward to a great conversation with him. I remember approaching Glenn many years ago for a donation to a traveling baseball my team my son played on; he did not hesitate but reached for his checkbook and gave a generous donation. Family -this was the kind of man Glenn was. I will forever be grateful for is friendship.

I am so sorry to hear of this news. Glenn was always such a nice and very respectful man. When he and I saw each other, we were always discussing sports. His famous words to me were, ” Hey Coach Horton, what did you think about that game and what would you have done in that situation? “He loved sports and his family for sure. I will be praying for his family during this difficult time.

My memory of Mr.Oldham was on Sunday after church when my wife and in-law’s Gary & Jo Ann Thompson would go to eat at Park City Cafe. That big Oldham family would be there enjoying a meal. You could tell that family meant everything to him. Such a loving, close family. So sorry for your loss!
