Funeral services for Mr. Gordon Leon Shelton, age 89, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11AM Monday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Kirk Smith and Rev. Ronnie Gay officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery beside his wife of 69 years Ora Ruth Henderson Shelton who died in 2007. Mr. Shelton passed away Thursday December 11 at Lincoln Medical Center.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Sam and Ethel Sullivan Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a horseman, farmer, truck driver and a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters Sue (Steve) Brooks of Fayetteville, Oneita (Jimmy) Wolaver of Fayetteville and Markeita (John) Novak of Orland Park, IL, two sons Terrell (Sarah) Shelton of Fayetteville and Andy (Karen) Shelton of Flintville, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one sister Velma Marty of Meridianville, AL. Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by a son Brent Shelton and a brother Lyndel Shelton.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
