We lost our sweet sister, Geraldine Davenport Lush, to a long battle with dementia on December 17, 2024.
Known as Gerri, many in Fayetteville knew her from working at Raymond Meyers making his donuts, or selling furniture at several furniture stores, or playing basketball in high school. She had many talents. Gerri was quick-witted and very fun to be around.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Burr and Ellen Davenport; son, Gregory Lush; and two brothers, Wayne Davenport and Phillip Davenport. She is survived by one son, Richie Lush; grandchildren, Dallon Lush, Kennedy Lush, and Samantha Lush; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Gardner and Mary Ann Mason; brothers, Wilkie Davenport and Mickey Davenport; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12pm Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Mulberry Cemetery with Bro. James Strope officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 4pm until 7pm at Higgins Funeral Home.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Geraldine Davenport Lush.
Geri was a one of a kind type person who played hard, worked hard and stood up for what she believed. She enjoyed laughter and could make you laugh. She was my friend for many years. Geri, you made it through life on your own. Rest in peace Geri!
Geraldine was a wonderful neighbor and friend to my Mother on Third Avenue before my Mother’s death…..she was a kind and sweet person. Condolences to the family .
Richie and family, we are thinking of you all with the loss of Gerri. You will be in our prayers for comfort during this time.
