George Daniel “Showboat” Lindsey, age 62, of Fayetteville, TN passed away at his residence on Monday, July, 30, 2018. Graveside funeral service for Mr. Lindsey will be conducted at 1 PM on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Gatlin Cemetery with Rev. James Barnes officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at 10 AM until 12 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
He was a native of Lincoln County, TN and retired from Goodman Manufacturing . He was a member of Brogan Avenue Baptist Church and graduated from the old Central High School in 1976. Since his retirement last June, Danny was the happiest he had been in a long time due to finally getting to spend as much time as possible with the loves of his life, his precious granddaughter, Ellie and Abbie, who lovingly called him “Papa”. A name he adored!
He was the son of the late “Lightning” and Annie Ruth Patterson Lindsey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow and Alma Reyer Patterson and Bert and Virgie Daniel Lindsey; sister, Diane L. Medley; brother-in-law, Jimmy Medley; and nephews, Michael Cassidy Lindsey and Michael Medley. Survivors include: Adam and Shasta Lindsey of Fayetteville, TN, Marcus and Jennifer Lindsey of Fort Polk, LA, and Nick and Mary Lindsey of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, Elainna Faye and Abigail Kate Lindsey, Jocelyn Lindsey, Natalie Grace and Jackson Daniel Lindsey; siblings, Darlene Freeman, David and JoAnn Lindsey all of Fayetteville, TN and Denise and Rickey Smith of Ardmore, AL; nieces and nephews, Chris and Angela Polland and their daughters, Gracie-Ann and Addalynne, of Tullahoma, TN, Jason and Amanda Lindsey and their son, Michael Dante, Shawn Medley and Cassie Gulley, and Jessica Medley and their children, Shauna, Kyle, Logan, Toby, and Amyah, Stephen and Amber Lindsey all of Fayetteville, TN, Casey and Erika Graves of Shelbyville, and Ella Medley and her children, Hailey, Koty, Jarod, Paisley, Kynslee, and Tucker all of Lawrenceburg, TN; aunt and uncles, Wanda and Bobby Dollar and Debbie Linville all of Fayetteville, TN, Leon and Rachel Patterson and Reba Patterson all of Dellrose, TN, Ray and Martha Patterson of Athens, AL, Jimmy and Carolyn Patterson and Ardmore, AL, Brenda and Billy Howard of Lewisburg, TN, Marie Patterson of New Market, AL, Annie Pogue-Reyer of Hazel Green, AL, and Gail Pogue of Oxford, AL; numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends, and ex-coworkers from Goodman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fayetteville -Lincoln County Public Library at 306 Elk Ave, Fayetteville, TN 37334, American Heart Association at PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, or a charity of your choice. Danny you will be missed very much by your family. Danny showed us in a big way how important his kids and grandkids were to us this last year. I am glad we were able to meet him and see for ourselves the love he had for his grandbabies. I know he will be sorely missed by one little girl and her moma.
I am so sorry to hear of Showboat’s death. It was such a shock to me to hear of it. We’ve spent many hours side-by-side at the library doing our research and discussing our findings. My love, respect, and support to Showboat’s family. May he Rest in Peace!

I am heartbroken over George’s passing but so grateful to have become friends while I worked at the Library. He loved doing genealogy and I enjoyed knowing him and talking while we searched for ancestors. I was always glad to see him there. I will truly miss seeing him. My sympathies to all his family.
