Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Steelman, age 81, of Flintville will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Plevna, AL. Mrs. Steelman passed away at Huntsville Hospital on Saturday.
A daughter of the late Clyde Emory and Nora Davis Fanning, she was a native Madison Co., AL, a seamstress, and a member Oakley Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Rufus Steelman of Flintville, son Lowell Bates and wife Elaine of Kelso, step-children Jo Lee Armstrong and husband Jimmy of Huntland, James Steelman and wife Shirley of Fayetteville, and Wayne Steelman and wife Shirley of Hazel Green, AL, grandchildren Angela Zieke, Stephen Bates, Stephanie Lane, Justin Steelman, Joshua Steelman, Carol Rutledge, and Melanie Henley, great-grandchildren Ethan Bates, Caleb Bates, Shelby Zieke, and Madelyn Lane, sister Wanda Roberts and husband Earl of Estill Springs, and sister-in-law Helen Fanning of New Market, AL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Arvel Fanning and J.B. Fanning.
Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM Monday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.
