Funeral service for Mr. Gary Austin Smith, age 67, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held at 12 PM until time of service at 2 PM at Higgins.
Gary was born on December 4, 1951 in Fayetteville, TN to the late Lee Wayne and Martha Dolan Haislip Smith. He worked as a meat market manager for Red Food and Bi-Lo Grocery and enjoyed working on antique cars and watching sports. Gary was a member of Washington Street Church of Christ. Mr. Smith passed away on October 14, 2019 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, June Moore Smith; children, Stephani Gentry and her husband Dayren of Fayetteville, TN, Adam Smith and his wife Rose of Clinton, TN, and Britnea Smith of Pulaski, TN; grandchildren, Cole, Calee and Casyn Gentry and Cooper, Austen and Jase Smith; siblings, Sherrie Tomerlin, Patsy Walker and her husband Jim, Jeff Smith and wife Jill, Nancy Patrick and husband Brent, and Lee Smith and wife Terrie; and dog, Ottis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Everette Moore, and brother-in-law, Wendell Gammon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Street Church of Christ Peggy H. Mitchell Scholarship Fund, PO Box 324, Fayetteville, TN 37334, Multi County Cancer Support Network, PO Box 633, Decherd, TN 37324, or the Grace Fund at Fayetteville First Baptist Church, P.O.
