Funeral service for Mr. Fred Rayburn Grigsby, age 87, of Fayetteville, will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Crowell and Pastor Charles Edgar officiating. Burial will follow in Blanche Cemetery.
Mr. Grigsby was born on February 18, 1930 to the late Rufus Coy and Margaret Gilley Grigsby, in Tarrant, AL. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy, formerly was a member of Fayetteville Civitan Club, was a deacon at Prosperity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and loved to travel. Mr. Grigsby passed away on August 26, 2017 at St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN.
Survivors include his wife, Omaree “Marie” Boyett Grigsby; sons, Ronald Wayne Grigsby of Athens, AL and Ray Lynn (Joann) Grigsby of Taft; grandchildren, David Joshua Grigsby and Heather Renee (Jonathan) Simmons; great-grandchildren, Adeline Joyce and Victoria Marie Grigsby; and brother-in-laws, Don (Marti) Boyett of Chattanooga, TN and Willard (Elaine) Boyett of Moulton, AL.
Visitation with the family will be 12 p.m. until time of service on Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prosperity ARP Church, 19 Prosperity Church Road, Taft, TN 38488. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Fred Rayburn Grigsby.
