Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Esther Jean Goolsby Golden, age 79, of Kelso, TN will be conducted at 1 PM on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Graham officiating. Burial will follow at New Grove Cemetery located in Blanche, TN, beside her husband John Edward Golden.

Esther was born on August 29, 1941 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Thomas Jefferson and Louise Moore Goolsby. She grew up in the Blanche and Taft communities, graduating from Blanche High School. Mrs. Golden enjoyed working in her flower beds, quilting, and feeding humming birds and red birds. She lived in the Kelso community for more than 50 years and was a member of the Gum Springs Baptist Church. Esther passed away on November 27, 2020 at Lincoln Medical Center.

Survivors include daughter, Paula Golden of Fayetteville; son Tommy Golden (Rebecca Parks) of Kelso; grandson, John William Golden of Harrison, TN; sisters, Kathleen Marr of Fayetteville, Faynell Barnes of Elgin, SC, and Kay (Ed) Bitself of Lakewood, WA; brother, Kenneth Goolsby; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Golden was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy and Earl Goolsby.

Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until 7 PM on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan (food ministry), 208 Davidson St. West, Fayetteville, TN 37334, or Fayetteville Lincoln County Animal Shelter, 1718 Pulaski Highway, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
