It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elton Louis Holder, age 70, of Flintville, TN, who passed away at his home on January 27, 2025. Born on March 19, 1954, in Lincoln County, TN, Elton was the beloved son of the late Clyde Layman and Myrtice Elaine Rutledge Holder.
A skilled carpenter by trade, Elton had a lifelong passion for woodworking and craftsmanship. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was watching classic television shows—especially Westerns—or working as a “shade tree” mechanic, tinkering with cars in his free time. Above all, he cherished his family, particularly his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Elton is survived by his daughter, Shelly Holder Simmons, and her husband, Jason; his grandchildren, Alyssa (Christian) Gay, Danielle Wright, and Austin Holder; and his brothers, Wesley (Priscilla) Holder and Thomas Earl (Ann) Holder. In addition to his parents, Elton was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Lee Holder.
There will be a memorial service at 2 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with Bro. John Neal and Jason Simmons officiating. A private burial will take place at Moore Cemetery at a later date.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Elton Louis Holder.

I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Elton. We grew up together as neighbors in the Vanntown community. I remember him fondly always.
