On March 9, 2025, Elizabeth Jane Warden Grishom, age 93, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, where she is now reunited with her beloved parents.
Elizabeth was born on July 12, 1931, in Moore County, Tennessee, to the late Robert Eugene Warden and Louise Minnie Martin Warden. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Elizabeth grew up attending Booneville United Methodist Church. Later in life, she served as church secretary at Asbury United Methodist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee, and most recently attended White Oak United Methodist Church in Chattanooga (Red Bank), Tennessee.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Elizabeth spent many years as an administrative assistant at General Electric and later at the Tennessee Valley Authority corporate offices. Above all, she was a devoted mother, working tirelessly to support her daughter Jill through college. Elizabeth also had a great passion for raising and riding Tennessee Walking Horses, a hobby that brought her much joy. However, her greatest love was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Robert (Tammy) Bledsoe; daughter, Elisha “Jill” (Bass) Troutman; grandchildren, Hunter Evan Bledsoe, Kristin (SGT Kyle) Koppenhaver, Robert Hudson Bledsoe, and Charlie Troutman; and great-grandchildren, Brendan Evan Bledsoe, Charley Brooke Bledsoe, and Mason Andrew Koppenhaver. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her cousin, Billy Martin of the Booneville community.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM CST on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Wyatt Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Booneville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM CST on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home, located at 213 Market Street East, Fayetteville, Tennessee 37334.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc., 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Elizabeth Jane Warden Grishom.
Grandma Liz was always full of love and light. She was a very elegant, classy lady who I always had the upmost respect for – she was always loving and kind and treated me and the children with so much warmth and joy every time we visited. She will be dearly missed…
Liz was a sweet lady and we were privileged to love and care for her the past 4 years. Your family is in our thoughts and prayes. Lizzie will never be forgotten by the residents and staff of Regency House.
Jill – some positive thoughts:
I have an older brother (90+ years old) who has lived in Booneville the past 70 years – he ran the NEPA Parts and Service for a long time.
I attended Northeast Jr College in 1966-67, before attending Memphis State and Air Force flying status.
My Wife, Sheryl, has ridden TN walking Horses all her life – she owned a mare that finished 3rd in the big Shelbyville event (long time ago!)
It looks like you have had many pleasant memories in your life; hang on to and enjoy them for the rest of your life on earth;
YOU WILL BE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!
