Obituary

Edward Kenny Jean, age 79, of Kelso, TN, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. 

A funeral service to honor Kenny’s life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home. Bro. Ley Jean and Bro. Jimmy Jean will officiate. Burial will follow in Campbell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 1 PM on Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home. 

Kenny was born on April 15, 1945, in Lincoln County, TN, to the late Clyde Edward Jean and Martha Nell Harmening Jean. A 1964 graduate of Flintville High School, Kenny built a successful career in insurance sales with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, which later became American General.

Kenny had a deep love for his family and shared countless cherished moments with them. He enjoyed horseback riding, navigating and floating the river, and attending dirt track races. Known for his adventurous spirit, Kenny often opted for scenic routes on his travels. A skilled horseman, he cared for his horses with dedication and was always on the lookout for a good deal or trade. 

Kenny is survived by his wife, Brenda McBay Jean; daughter, Christy Jean; sister, Diane (Danny) Campbell; brothers, Stan (Linda) Jean, Donald (Laura) Jean, Ronald (Debra) Jean, and Jimmy (Rhonda) Jean; sister-in-law, Kathy Jean; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Jean; and brother-in-law, Wilburn “Putt” Satterfield. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all who have offered support and kindness during this time. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Edward Kenny Jean.
