It is with regret we announce the passing of Mrs. Doris Amelia Helton, age 77, of Fayetteville, TN. Doris was born on December 30, 1942 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Robert Lee and Sallie Campbell Holder. She passed away on April 28, 2020, at Lincoln Medical Center.
Doris attended Walnut Grove School in New Market, AL. She and her husband of sixty one years, Loyd Beaman Helton were dairy farmers and she was a supporter of the local Dairy Days event. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, reading, and painting. She was best known for her wonderful Christmas candy. She was a member of the Boonshill Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Dennis Helton of Fayetteville; grandsons, Jason (Jessica) Helton and Jeremy Helton (fiance Nicole Hutton); great-grandchildren, Kendall Helton, Emerly Helton, Jeremiah Helton, and Luke Davis; sister, Dovie McKinney; sister-in-law, Kathy Harbin of Langston, AL; nieces, Deirdre Pierce and Angie Cook; nephew, Josh Harbin; many great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Buddy. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Teresa Ann Helton and brother, Danny Holder.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will be no public gathering at this time. A private family service will be at Barnes Cemetery, with Bro. Thomas Smith officiating. The family invites you to share memories at higginsfh.com.

We are so sorry to hear about Amelia passing. She was fun to be around. I always enjoyed riding with her on her four wheeler when we would visit. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. We love you all very much.

Amelia taught me how to be southern. We rode the tobacco setter together. I always enjoyed watching her make biscuits. Rest easy my friend.
