Funeral service for Mr. Donald Jean Wallace, age 87, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at West Fayetteville Church of Christ with Bro. Andy Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.
Don was born on September 27, 1930 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Walter DeWitt and Evelyn Jean Wallace. He was drafted into the US Army, moving he and his wife all over the U.S. and to Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Wallace ran a feed route for the Lincoln County Co-Op for several years, and then worked as the Manager of the Co-Op Car Care Center. After leaving the Co-Op, Don worked as a procurement and re-utilization officer for Marshall Space Flight Center.
Don loved his church family at West Fayetteville Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for 40 years, he loved sharing the word of God. He held Bible study at the Limestone Prison for 16 years, the Lincoln Care Center on Monday mornings and the Lincoln County Jail on Sunday’s. He was a CASA volunteer at the Lincoln County Jail on Tuesday and Thursday nights. He loved personal work evangelism. Mr. Wallace also enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, and mending hearts. He passed away on March 17, 2018 at Lincoln Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Martha Lou Bryant Wallace; daughters, Sandra Wallace (Mark) Long of Taft, and Brenda Wallace (Steve) Jefferson of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Valerie Jefferson Cantrell, Amanda Jefferson Eslick, Meredith Ann Long, and Hunter Wallace (Leah) Long; great-grandchildren, Cordell Eslick, Cary Eslick, Cooper, Eslick, and Addison Cantrell; and a sister, Aline (Kenneth) Green of Texas. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Sherrell Wallace and Elbert Wallace.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Higgins Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 1 PM until time of service at 2 PM at the West Fayetteville Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the International Gospel Hour, P.O. Box 118, Fayetteville, TN 37334. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Donald Jean Wallace.
Mr Don Wallace was a great friend to my grandmother, Margaret Miller. He spoke very beautiful words at her graveside service when she passed in 2011. I will always remember him as a very nice man and I am praying for comfort to his family during this time of loss.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Don and Reeves were in school together and rode the same bus. We had a wreck last Sept. and can not get out much, but know that you and yours are in our thoughts and prayers,.

Mr. Don was a fine Christian man and will be sorely missed. I saw him almost everyday at the Patrick and he is already missed. He fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith. Our prayers and condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
