Obituary

David C. Moyers, age 101, passed away on September 18, 2019. He was born June 6, 1918 to Earl and Janie Caldwell Moyers. He was employed by Kraft Foods and a lifelong farmer. He was married for 63 years to Adelaide Whitaker Moyers who passed away in 2002. He was a member of Beech Grove Methodist Church.

Survivors include children, Danny Moyers of Hughson, CA and Jane (Jerry) Harmening, of Hazel Green, AL; grandchildren, Amber (Roger) Eldridge, Tony Moyers, Keith (Phelica) Moyers, Scott (Karen) Harmening, Steven (Whitney) Harmening, Stuart (Susan) Harmening; great-grandchildren, Courtney (Landon) Jones, Blake Eldridge, Katelyn, Kristen, Sophie, Jacob and Colby Harmening, Landen and Carlie Moyers; great-great-grandson, Harper Jones; sister, Muriel (Leonard) Coble; and best friend, Geraldine Creson.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, David C. Moyers, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Moyers; great-granddaughter, Sarah Harmening; siblings, Ernest Moyers, Marie Cooke and Anita Pate.

Visitation will be held at Higgins Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at 1 PM to 3 PM followed by a graveside service at Medium Cemetery at 3:30 PM officiated by Bro. Colin Leighton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. David C. Moyers.

    Sorry for your family’s loss. I’ve known him a lifetime, from the time I was big enough to walk. He was a very nice man, and we’ve shared a lot of laughs.

    Very Sorry for our loss of “Uncle Dave”. He was a hard working man, coon dog trainer and a coon hunter. He had a good life and a loving family. I vividly see him plowing the fields with his mules and milking cows and he made the best cured hams ever.

    Cousin Dave will be missed. I didn’t get to visit him often but I prayed for him often that he would NOT be in pain as he waited for the end. At last he will be at Rest
