To Darrell’s Family
I won’t be able to attend Darrell’s memorial service since I’m still not getting out of the house following my surgery, but, I wanted to let you know that you are all in my thoughts & prayers.
When I found the following poem, I thought of Darrell and of all of you. I hope it brings you some small comfort as you take one step at a time toward healing. Just remember that the legacy of Darrell’s life will live on in the memories of all those whose lives he touched.
“He Only Takes the Best”
God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
and whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes “the best”.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Darrell will be greatly missed. I have wonderful memories of him working with our children in 4-H and at camp. May God bless and comfort you all. Darrell fought a good fight and now is perfect and happy with Jesus.

All the things he has done for my four children through 4-H and even after 4-H, the help with Dairy Day for so many years, the personal encouragement I received from him, and the list could go on.
