John was born on January 19, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late John Marshall Braselton, Sr. and Georgia Mae Grant Braselton, and passed away on June 28, 2026. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves and later worked as an electrical maintenance technician for Amana. Deeply involved in his community, John was a dedicated member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir and played handbells. He also served with the Lincoln County Elections Commission at the voting precincts and was a member of the Civitan Club. Known as a “gentle giant” and the perfect country gentleman, John was smart, kind, and always willing to help anyone in need. He loved the outdoors—especially hiking, camping, backpacking, and playing soccer.
In 1986, John married Clara Bush, beautifully uniting two families into one. He is survived by his loving wife, Clara Bush Braselton; children, Keith Marshall Braselton, Marty Alan (Prospera Balbon “Rose”) Braselton, Susan Michelle Cox, and Christopher Dean (Kimberly) Sink; grandchildren, Krishauna Braselton, Cameron (Natalie) Braselton, Ashley Braselton, Casey Braselton, Noah Braselton, Angelica Cox, Ariel (Daniel) Morgan, Tara Cox, Felicity Sink, and Abigail (Heath) Greene; great-grandchildren, Christian Braselton, Emma Braselton, Weston Braselton, Rhu Jones, Irie Jones, Loki Braselton, Azura Brazelton, Clover Braselton, Braze Braselton, Michael Cox, Noa Morgan, Melody Morgan, Dominic Cox, and Sebastian Cox; a great-great-grandson, Ricky Braselton, Jr. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his twin sister, Joan Powers, and a grandson, Seth Braselton.

Mrs.Clara, we send our prayers for you and each one of your family. I first met John when he bought my grand mother’s house after Billy passed away. My uncle Joe Edd and I were so impressed by John. He was a true gentleman and so easy to talk with. That impression is just as true in my memory of him today as it was then. Praying for each of you. May God’s grace sustain you. Tommy and Jane Graham
Clare and family, I’m so heartbroken reading about John’s passing. He was a very dear friend, just as you are Clare. We had a lot of great times in Hand Bells. I will pray for the family and may God hold you all in his arms to carry you through this time. John will be terribly missed. Love to you all. DeLois
