At age 12, she became the pianist for the Mulberry United Methodist Church.  She accompanied a Mulberry friend, Minnie Hart Pearson, on a weekly radio spot in the early days of WEKR.  She was employed by Southern Bell as an operator and was on duty when the tornado struck in the early 50’s.  After the death of her husband, she was a desk clerk at the Largen Hotel, a teacher’s aide, and hostess at a local antique house.  At the age of 89 she moved to Newman, GA, to an apartment in an assisted living area and then later to Christian City near East Point.
