Graveside services for Mr. Charles Wilson Campbell, age 77 of Franklin formerly of Fayetteville will be conducted at 11AM Saturday at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Higgins Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Campbell passed away Thursday March 4th in Claiborne Hughes Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin.
He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Horace and Annie Campbell. Mr. Campbell and his wife LaVerne Towry Campbell were both natives of Lincoln County and surrounding communities. He was employed at Genesco where he met his wife and then moved to Nashville in 1965 due to a promotion and transfer. He worked for Genesco for over 29 years then accepted a job at Hartmann Luggage and moved to Lebanon, TN. He retired at 62 and move to Franklin to be close to his grandsons and family. He attended Washington Street, Hermitage, Maple Hill and Berry’s Chapel Churches of Christ where he was currently a member. He will be remembered as having a great love for playing and coaching various sports which he passed on to his son and grandsons.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years LaVerne Towry Campbell of Franklin, son Barry Campbell and his wife Pat, two grandsons Doug and Daniel, one sister Inez Lewter of Fayetteville and a host of nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Johnnie Campbell and two sisters Rossie Ashby Crouch and Katherine Talley.
Visitation with the family will be Friday afternoon from 2-6PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to charity of one’s choice.
