Schaeffer in St. Louis, MO, one of six children.  Carol followed in her mother’s footsteps becoming a registered nurse (RN). She served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. Carol then moved to rural Missouri where she and her husband, Harold J. In 1980 she moved to St. Florian, AL where she worked in a Florence hospital for a time. As a career change, she went to work for TVA from 1981 until retiring in 1998 from TVA’s Western Radiological Lab in Muscle Shoals, AL as a radio chemistry lab analyst. Carol was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Loaves & Fishes Charity.  After retirement she enjoyed traveling around the USA in a motorhome and being involved with Family Motor Coach Association and doing Habitat for Humanity house builds. Other hobbies included baking bread, singing, sewing, knitting and quilting.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Louis Schaeffer, Nicholas Schaeffer, Stephen J. Schaeffer and Delores S. Schmidt and her husband, Harold J. Chorney. She is survived by one brother, Joseph Schaeffer (Mary) and one sister-in-law, Linda Schaeffer and her children, Mary C. Carter (Jimmy), Anthony H. Chorney (Stacy), Margaret A. Carter (Brent),  David L. Chorney (Maria) and Andrew N. Chorney (Janet) as well as grandchildren, Nicole Chorney Takada (Joji), Zachary B. Carter (Greer), Brandon J. Carter, Andrew N.
