Obituary

Funeral service for Brenda Kay Mitchell, age 64, of Dellrose, TN, will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at McBurg First Baptist Church with Bro. Timothy Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024, at McBurg First Baptist Church.

Brenda was born on September 17, 1959, in Lincoln County, Tennessee to the late Felix Thorpe and Lela Cunningham Thorpe. She was a 1979 graduate of Boonshill School and worked for Goodman Manufacturing. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the McBurg Baptist Church. Nana loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially teaching them how to cook. Brenda passed away on April 3, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Roger Mitchell; daughter, Crystal (Brock) Hopkins of Dellrose; son, Travis (Britney) Mitchell of Dellrose; grandchildren, Ellah Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, and Sadie Mitchell; sisters, Linda Spray of Fayetteville, and Sherry (Mike) Presti of Fayetteville; brothers, Harry (Fannie) Thorpe of Dellrose, and Mike Thorpe of McBurg; a special friend, Janie Rhodes of Petersburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to the McBurg First Baptist Church, 353 McBurg Dellrose Road, Dellrose, TN 38453.
