We celebrate and honor the life of Bobby Rex Simms, II, age 53, of Fayetteville, TN. Please join us in a gathering to honor Rex’s memory on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home. The service will start at 2 PM officiated by Rev. Tommy Vann. Following the service, we will have a visitation with the family until 4 PM.

Rex was born on May 29, 1970, in Fayetteville, TN. He was a proud graduate of Alabama Christian Academy, Class of 1988, and held deep faith in Christianity. Known affectionately as Coach Rex, he dedicated 16 joyful years coaching football in Millbrook and Prattville, AL, where he instilled not only athletic skills but also love and camaraderie in his teams. Rex peacefully passed away at his residence on April 1, 2024.

Rex leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by his wife of 10 years, Nancy Carter Simms; his mother, Billie Charlotte Thompson (Gary) Williams; his stepmother, Carol Simms; his children, Chelsea Ragan Simms (Jaymes) Chambless, Austin Jordan (Mattie Grace) Simms, Jay Emory Simms, and Brody James Simms; his precious grandchildren, Carson Grey Chambless, Elle Riley Chambless, Luke Jordan Simms, and Saylor Jane Simms; and his sister, Tammy Simms (BF) Peyton. Rex was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Rex Simms.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Clearview Cancer Institute, Lincoln Medical Home Health and Hospice, and the countless friends and extended family members who provided unwavering support during Rex’s illness.

Higgins Funeral Home is privileged to serve the family of Bobby Rex Simms, II, as we honor his remarkable life and the joy he brought to all who knew him.

Rex was an amazing young man and I’m so glad to have been a tiny part of knowing him as my husbands (Bob’s) son. He reminds me so much of his dad as a loving , caring, honest and solid family man. The fact that everyone he met loved him. He will be deeply missed.
My heart goes out to Nancy and Tammy. Rest in peace and free of pain.

My name is Keith. Cousin to Rex. We grew up together as kids and thanks to our mothers getting together often we made many memories together. From playing various sports in the backyard to walking to Booger Hollow cemetery with granny and papa to be frightened by what we believed to be ghost. Haha. He will be missed by many and may he rest in peace.
