Obituary

It is with deepest regret we announce the passing of Mr. Billy Eugene Ward, age 88, of Fayetteville, TN. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 2pm at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Stewart Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Higgins.

Mr. Ward was born November 12, 1933, in Flintville, TN. He was a maintenance technician at Amana for 28 years and for many years he helped Lincoln County residents as a small engine repairman with an engineer’s mind. Bill was an avid gardener and he also enjoyed bowling, and fishing. Bill was a member of Liberty Church of Christ. Mr. Ward passed away March 31, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Survivors include his daughter, Jo Ann (Paul) Gill of Arkansas; son, Terry Ward of Arkansas; bonus daughter, Kay Bagby of Ardmore, AL; brother, Thomas (Linda) Ward of Winchester; six grandchildren, three bonus grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, seven bonus great-grandchildren; the best neighbors in the world; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Lou Norman; his first wife Becky Ward; his second wife Ruth Ward; bonus son, Mike Bagby; and siblings, Gale Ward, Dale Ward, Betty Jean Dockery, Jeraldine Bass, Muriel Ross, Kenneth Ward, and Dwight Ward.

Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or Hospitality House Nashville, 214 Reidhurst Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.
