The family and friends of Mrs. Billie Jo Holt celebrate a precious life well lived. Mrs. Holt passed away on Monday, August 10, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family members at Stewart Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Brooks; her mother, Dorothy “Dimple” Milstead Brooks; her stepmother, Louise Brooks; her brother, Barry Brooks; and her brother, Steve Brooks, all of Fayetteville.
Mrs. Holt, often known by her loved ones as “Nana”, was born on September 29, 1941, in Fayetteville, Tennessee. She worked many years at Serbin and Amana in Fayetteville. She was a wonderful cook, and she took great pride in making sure everyone at her dining table was well fed. She also enjoyed attending the community dances on Friday and Saturday nights in the Elora and Winchester communities. She liked spending time on the back porch and going to the pond with her Border Collie, Bo.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, David Holt; her daughter, Phyllis Holt Johnston and her husband, Randall Johnston, and their daughter, Hannah; her daughter, Janet Holt Mohr and her husband, Jürgen Mohr, and their son, Michael; her stepbrother, Delton Ashby and his wife, Linda; and her cousin and mutually agreed upon “sister”, Marge Wheeler.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and medical professionals who have helped Nana along this journey. The family would also like to express gratitude toward Avalon Hospice of Tullahoma, especially Mrs. Wynona and Mrs. Diana, for helping provide Nana and her family comfort in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or Avalon Hospice of Tullahoma, 305 1/2 South Jackson Street, Tullahoma, Tennessee, 37388; or the charity of your choice.
