Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Dean Wright, age 84, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 1 PM on Monday, January 21, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home with Gary Wright officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband, William Ralph Wright, in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday at 11 AM until time of service at 1 PM.

Mrs. Wright was born on October 16, 1934 in Ardmore, TN to the late Clifton Eugene and Edna Lucille Whitt Hicklen. She was a member of North Side Church of Christ and attended West Fayetteville Church of Christ. She was an avid gardener and knew the names of every tree and flower. She loved camping, traveling, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Wright passed away on January 17, 2019 at Bailey Manor.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Carl) Austin of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Cristy (Jon) McLemore, Drew (Elizabeth) Cline, Sarah Stocstill, Emily Austin and Brooks Austin; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Wyatt and Grace Cline and Andi and Jake Stocstill; sisters, Doris McAlister and Brenda Laten; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Sutphin, and siblings, Barbara Dunn, Wanda Thompson, and Bill Hicklen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Betty Wright.

    Debbie, I’m so sorry to hear about about Aunt Betty. She was in my humble opinion, a real Lady. When young, I took delight in teasing her. But she never express anger nor raised her voice. My kids all enjoyed helping her at the house when we lived down the road.
    Our prayers are with you all and may God bless you and the rest of the family during this time of grief. CR
