Obituary

Barbara Rucker Newman, age 93, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the Lynchburg Nursing Center. Born on August 5, 1932, in High Point, North Carolina, Barbara lived a long and meaningful life centered around her devotion to her family. A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Barbara is survived by her loving family, including her son, Van Cooke (Kim McGhee); her daughter, Cela Honey (Steve); and a proud legacy of five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her two sisters.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to HH Lincoln Health, the staff at Lynchburg Nursing Center, and Candice Stinson for the tender and compassionate care they provided to Barbara in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in her honor to the Humane Society of Lincoln County, P.O. Box 37, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
