Obituary

Alice Patricia Moyers (Pat), our dear mother, died April 19, 2019 surrounded by her family at the age of 77 years old. Pat was born in Williamsburg, VA on November 11, 1941. She was the first child of Nathaniel and Inez Barnes. After several moves in Pat’s early life, the family settled in Fayetteville, TN in 1956 where she met her husband of 39 years, David C. Moyers, Jr. After graduating from Central High School, they were married on December 21, 1960. David and Pat moved to several locations during David’s successful military career and raised three children together. They returned to Fayetteville in 1986 where Pat has lived ever since. Pat was a humble, kind, and gentle woman who has said she always wanted to be a wife and mother. After her husband died in 1999, she devoted herself to her grandchildren, great-grandchild and the Atlanta Braves (!). Pat was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Fayetteville, TN for 25 years.

Pat was predeceased by her husband, CMSgt David C. Moyers Jr (USAF) and parents, Nathaniel and Inez Barnes. She is survived by her children, Amber Eldridge (Roger) of Mufreesboro, TN, Tony Moyers (John) of Atlanta, GA, and Keith Moyers (Phelica) of Spring Hill, TN; grandchildren, Courtney Jones (Landon), Blake Eldridge, Landen Moyers, and Carly Moyers; great-grandchild, Harper Jones; and siblings, Sandra Wolaver, Bill Barnes, and Nancy Woods all of Fayetteville, TN.

Funeral service for Mrs. Moyers will be conducted at 3 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ann Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in Medium Cemetery next to her husband. Visitation with the family will held at 12 PM until time of service at 3 PM on Saturday at the church. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Moyers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 200 Elk Avenue North, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

Sadly even thou we were neighbors I did not know about Ms. Pat’s passing until today. I would like the share out deepest Sympathy to her family. My Dad and Mr. David were great friends and Ms. Pat has always been so gracious to us as neighbors. I will miss seeing her mow her yard, smiling and waving as she worked.

I called her my Mama Moyers, since she was my best friend’s mother, and I knew her since I was a young girl . That’s how she treated me, like a daughter, always very loving and affectionate, caring and she was so easy to talk to. She had that warmth about her that made you feel at home in her presence. I loved her smile and will miss her laugh most of all and her hugs. My husband Tommy also got to meet her and he also fell in love with her wonderful soul. I will always wish that I had talked to her just one more time. Some day Mamma Moyers we will meet again. Until then please give my mamma a hug for me in heaven. I will love you for always. Rest In Peace sweet lady. To my sister Amber Eldridge ( Rog, Courtney, Landon, Harper, Blake, Tony, John, Keith and Phelicia and your children ) and all of Pat’s family and friends , my heartfelt condolences are extended along with big warm hugs. You are all family to me and I love you and will be praying for each of you during this very difficult time of sadness and grieving. May our Father God wrap his arms around you and may you truly feel his comfort, peace and love embrace you . ???????????

Pat was a wonderful lady. We would spend time talking and laughing together at Amber’s house. She will be greatly missed, but knowing she is celebrating in heaven is awesome.
