Funeral service for Mr. Waldon Edward Tarpley age 86, of Fayetteville will be conducted Thursday at 7:00pm at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Phillips and Bro. Richard Rogers officiating. Burial will be Friday at 1:00pm  in Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury. Mr. Tarpley passed away Tuesday evening in Crestwood Medical Center.

He was a native of Cannon County, the son of the late Leaborn and Dora Duggin Tarpley and a veteran of the U.S. Navy for four years serving during WW II. Mr. Tarpley retired from Redstone Arsenal after 32 years of teaching missle command systems to foreign students. He was a preacher for 17 years and a member of the Liberty Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife Trudy Whisenant Tarpley of Fayetteville, sons David Tarpley and wife Dr. Kris Gowan Tarpley of Asheville, NC and Attorney Dale Tarpley of Tampa, FL, grandchildren Cameron and Lauren Tarpley. He was preceded in death by daughter Waldrena Tarpley and brother Doyle Tarpley.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening 4-7PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
