A celebration of life for Peggy Adams Hunter Childress, age 70, of Fayetteville, TN will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Higgins Funeral Home with Jeff May, Bro. Mike McLemore, and Bro. Erik Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of the service.
Peggy was born on August 19, 1955, in Newton County, MO, to the late Robertlee Dean Adams and Norma Fay Ledford Adams, both of Anderson, MO. She graduated summa cum laude from Motlow State Community College in 1993 and dedicated 26 years of compassionate service as a registered nurse. Peggy was a faithful member of South Fayetteville Church of Christ and found joy in crocheting, drawing, painting, and music. She passed away February 2, 2026, with loved ones at her side. Peggy’s gentle spirit, creativity, and caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 31 years, Terry Childress of Fayetteville; siblings, Robert L. Adams (Belen) of Norfolk, VA, Lewis Adams (Paula) of Anderson, MO, Sally Fields of Joplin, MO, Susan Mullin (Woody Duncan) of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her first husband of 16 years, Bill Hunter.
