Norma Lee Trickey Rose, mother, grandmother, homemaker, friend, pet and nature lover, passed into her heavenly abode April 9, 2025, at her home in Fayetteville, Tennessee with her pets and loved ones at her side.
Norma was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on September 16, 1936. Her parents were the late Omer Clarence Trickey and Dorothy Fay Cross Trickey. Her siblings included the late: Oma Jean Winfrey Trickey, the late: William “Bill” Trickey, and special baby sister, Carolyn June Morriss of Council Bluffs, Iowa and special sister-in-law, Jo Trickey of Maryland Heights, Missouri.
Norma entered the Holy Bonds of Matrimony on December 18, 1953, to Preston LeRoy Rose of Humphrey, Idaho. Norma and Preston spent their happiest days together at their family ranch in Humphrey, Idaho. Preston passed away into his heavenly abode on February 7, 1989.
Together Norma and Preston lived all over the United States. From the midwest to the east, north, west, and finally the south. Each of their three children were born in different states. The oldest, Carol Jean Rose Kyzer (Kevin) was born in St. Louis Missouri. The middle child and only son, Curtis Wayne Rose (JoAnne) was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And, the youngest, Christy Lee Rose Key (Michael), was born in Santa Maria, California.
Norma and Preston’s union not only provided them with three children, but also five grandchildren, Dorothy, Ashton, Mindy, Derek, and Travis; and four great-grandchildren.
Norma was generous to a fault and would help anybody anyway she could. She was especially generous with her children and grandchildren.
Norma loved all her children and made sure they were always clean and wearing clean clothes. She prepared delicious meals for her family and made sure her children always had their vitamins. She allowed her children to take part in activities like dance, ham radio classes, swim lessons, and even horseback riding. What a Mama!
Norma could put on a fish fry that could make your mouth water and cook up a mean chili-mac. Her father-in-law, AE Rose highly praised her crisp fried bacon. Her children often requested her baked beans and red-hot apples.
Norma was a wonderful homemaker and never let Preston go to work without a freshly pressed shirt and clean pressed suit. And don’t forget the handkerchief!
Norma made lunches most days when her children attended school, and the children always came home to a tidy house and a much welcomed after school snack and bottle of pop to help get the homework done.
Norma was super knowledgeable about home upkeep, paperwork, paying bills, and hands-on maintenance to run a home. She was orderly! In a nutshell she took wonderful care of her family. Together, Norma and Preston decided to move their family to a countryside home in Toney, Alabama in 1971. Norma was happy anywhere she landed and was happiest when helping others. Looking after her family, neighbors, pets, and home was her specialty.
Norma loved to visit her neighbors and all of them loved “Miss Rose” as they called her. She formed special bonds with the late Miss Sally Walker, her daughter, the late Nell McKinney, and her husband, the late Richard McKinney. Norma also formed a special bond with her nextdoor neighbor Sue Jones Barbour and would often ask about her.
Norma had a special relationship with her sister, Carolyn. Together the two of them cared for their mother Dorothy for five years until Norma sustained a life changing head injury in 2007.
Norma moved to Fayetteville, Tennessee in July 2008 to reside with her youngest daughter and her husband. Norma has been a blessing to them. All of the creatures large and small that live at the Key household love their “Nanny.” And everyone that ever met Norma always comments on her sweetness.
We give special thanks of gratitude to our special friend Tiffany Bailey of Park City, Tennessee. Norma formed an enduring bond with special friend Tiffany who participated in Norma’s care since July 2022.
A special shoutout to Michael Lynn Key for running errands, shopping, and all the wonderful meals he prepared that Norma loved so much!
Along with family and friends, Norma leaves behind her special pet grandchildren, Petula, Darby, Ollie, KC, and her super special little foxy red chihuahua, Lucy. Her “Lucy, Lucy, Lucy.”
Norma was loving, caring, and humble. Norma had a constitution like no other, and like President Trump, her motto would have been, “Fight, Fight, Fight!”
Love you forever and forever and forever! Please read and pray Ephesians Ch. 1.
Private family services were held at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
