A memorial service for Nancy Ardary Plant, age 88, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 10, 2025, with visitation with the family from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wyatt Stephens officiating. A private burial will take place at Williamson Memorial Gardens.
Nancy was born January 28, 1937, in Oakdale, Tennessee, to the late Zane Leonard and Ethel Bigger Ardary. The daughter of a career teacher and a railroad pipefitter, she grew up in the foothills of Appalachia, where she learned the values of faith, family and hard work. She attended Tennessee Technological University, where she met her husband of thirty-six years, George Phillip Plant. Together they established and operated a propane gas business and built a family with four children.
A lifelong member of the Methodist church, Nancy was a talented seamstress who found joy in creating beautiful things for family and friends. She was happiest when spending time outdoors, whether in her garden or among the birds and flowers she loved. Nancy was known for her gentle spirit and kind heart, touching many lives with her quiet strength, compassion and grace.
Survivors include her children, Suzy (Ed) Jacobs of San Antonio, TX; Dr. Charles (Dr. Lucia) Plant of Mobile, AL; Sandra (Kent) Eastman of Bartonville, TX; and Julie (Steven) Miller of Petersburg, TN. Grandchildren include Sophia Plant (Rafael Waack), Lucas Plant (Kiera Boland), Brad Eastman (Tiffany Adams), John (Kelcie) Eastman, Jack (Summer) Eastman, Mary Kathryn Eastman (Tyler O’con), Zane Miller and Will Miller; great-grandchildren Aiden, Lorelai, Cason and Emmie Eastman; and those who were like family – special caretakers and dear friends: Christine Amason, Luci Womble, and Alice Fay Walters – cared for Nancy with love, compassion, and unwavering support.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister Mary Frances Hietbrink and brothers Zane and Bill Ardary.

We are so sorry about the loss of this great lady and wonderful Aunt. She was simply the best. Such a kind soul. So sorry we are not able to attend but you cousins and family have been constantly in my thoughts. We love you and know you have many happy memories to look back on and share together. We’re sorry to hear of the passing of Great Aunt Nancy. It was always great when we got the chance to talk to her and was glad to have reconnected with her in recent years.
