Funeral service for Melva Mitchell, age 85, of Fayetteville, TN will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Benny Berry officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home.
Melva was born on June 9, 1940, to the late John Lafayette “Fate” Luttrell and Annie Bell Arnold Luttrell. She attended Howell Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed clogging and cross-stitching. Melva passed away on November 1, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby Joe (Jennifer) Mitchell, and Terry (Jann) Mitchell; grandchildren, Kayla Goolsby, Kristen Mitchell (Karisa) Hamilton, John Wickham, and Cole Sowers; great-grandchildren, Journi Goolsby, and Shiloh Goolsby; brother, Murle (Dolly) Luttrell; sister, Pearl Frame; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Melva was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Mitchell; and siblings, Jewel Taylor, Hershall Luttrell, Ralph Luttrell, Laverne McCormick, Grace Luttrell, Hilton Luttrell, and Ernest Luttrell.
