Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Marjorie Milam Clark, age 85 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Black officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens beside her husband Henry Harwell Clark, who passed away in 2010 after 61 years of marriage.  Mrs. Clark passed away Sunday morning in Huntsville Hospital.

Mrs. Clark was born December 15, 1928 near Taft, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Wiley Garland Milam and Ola Maddox Milam.  She attended Taft Elementary School and Blanche High School.  Marjorie was a wife, mother, “Gran,” aunt, cousin, and friend who loved God, home, family, and gardening.

Mrs. Clark was a homemaker, and she worked a variety of other positions, including Moore’s Food Store, Union National Bank (bookkeeper and teller), agricultural extension office, and Peggy’s Log Cabin Florist for 15 years as a floral designer.  She was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ where she actively participated in ministry including years of teaching Sunday school.

Mrs. Clark was an adult leader of Lincoln County 4-H clubs for many years, a member of the Fayetteville Garden Club, a Life Member of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, and a Certified Master Gardener.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Peggy Milam Hargrave and Inez Milam McAlister.

She is survived by her daughter Amy Clark of Danville, Alabama; her son Mark Clark and wife Laura, of Fayetteville; four grandchildren: Megan and husband Alex Vaughn of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; Travis Clark of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Will and Sara Clark of Fayetteville; and three great-grandchildren Blakeli, Kingston, and Rocklin Vaughn.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Austinville Elementary School, Attn: Amy Clark Outdoor Classroom, 2320 Clara Avenue, SW Decatur, AL 35601.

Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 3-6 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
