It is with regret we announce the passing of Mrs. Margaret Irene Smith Hentz, age 81, of Fayetteville, TN. Margaret was born on July 1, 1938 in Lincoln County, TN to the late James Alfred and Eula Rossetta Randolph Smith. Mrs. Hentz passed away on April 13, 2020 at Lincoln Medical Center.
Margaret was a member of Brogan Avenue Baptist Church. She was a great cook and was well known for her Lemon Cake. Mrs. Hentz worked as a seamstress with Serbin, loved sewing for her family and friends, and enjoyed flower arranging.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Diane Brown; siblings James (Alice) Smith, Joe L. (Linda) Smith, Peggy (Billy) Patterson, William Smith, Trudy (Tony) Mitchell, and Dail Tallman; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hentz; grandson, Scotty Duane Mearse; and sisters, Janet Mae Smith and Daisey Lela Quarles.
A private family service will be held for Mrs. Hentz with Bro. James Barnes officiating with burial in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public gathering at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associations, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, Virginia 22102. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Margaret Irene Smith Hentz.
