Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Lynn Gambill Barnes, age 81, of Fayetteville will be conducted Friday at 11AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Black and Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Barnes passed away Wednesday morning at his residence.

A native of Marshall County and longtime resident of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late John Ernest and Ruby Riggs Barnes. Mr. Barnes was retired from Redstone Arsenal, was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Washington Street Church of Christ. Mr. Barnes was a volunteer at the Patrick Wellness Center and various other community projects, loved his family and golf.

Survivors include his wife Willa Dean Brown Barnes of Fayetteville, daughter Deborah Walker of Smyrna, a son Dr. Larry Barnes and wife Kem of Fayetteville, grandchildren John Barnes of Knoxville, Laura Taylor and husband Brian of Atlanta, Brad Walker and wife Randi of Smyrna, Doug Walker of Smyrna, Cyndi Mullins and husband Chad of Murfreesboro, Megan Vaughn and husband Alex of Soddy Daisy, Travis Clark of Vail, CO, Candace Barnes, Elise Barnes and Diana Barnes all of Fayetteville, five great grandchildren, two sisters Jean Blackwell of College Grove, TN and Laura Cathey of Columbia, TN.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lincoln County Hospice and Home Health, the American Cancer Society or the Washington Street Church of Christ Building Fund.
