Obituary

On Friday, November 6, 2020, Johnnie Michael Hopkins, loving husband of Vickie Davis Hopkins, passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN, at the age of 71.

Mike was the only child born to the late Johnnie Melvin Hopkins and Doris Daniel Nelson on October 2, 1949 in Lincoln County, TN.

Mr. Hopkins leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Vickie; a daughter, Amanda Hopkins and her husband Zane of Memphis, TN;a son, Matthew Hopkins and his wife, Angie of Memphis; baby dog, Sassy; and very special in-laws including a special bond to Nickie and Kathy.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buck and Lyla Hopkins, and Lindsey and Rosie Daniel; and a baby dog, Fannie.

Early in his career, Mike worked as a fireman in Memphis and owned several small businesses. He had a strong passion for fishing, hunting, and guns. Mike spent most of his free time reeling in that big fish, which often got away. Mr. Hopkins had a kind heart and would always lend a helping hand.

Mike loved to tease, joke, and laugh. He was certainly the jovial one of the crowd. Laughter was always necessary and was part of his everyday life. Mr. Hopkins was affectionally known to his family as whiskers.

Funeral service will be at 2 PM on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home, with Bro. Don Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until 2 PM on Monday at Higgins Funeral Home.
