Obituary

Funeral Services for Mr. John Carl Moore Jr., age 93 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Tuesday at 1 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Moore passed away Saturday at Donalson Nursing Home.

Mr. Moore was born July 1, 1918 to John C. Moore Sr. and Julia Flynt Moore of Fayetteville. He was a graduate of Lincoln County High School and attended David Lipscomb College and the University of Tennessee before serving six years in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a combat fighter pilot in the China-Burma-India theater of operation. In 1944 he married Florence Valentine Davies Moore of Huntsville, AL. He joined the Army Ballistic Missile Agency in 1951 and transferred to NASA in 1960 as a Mechanical Engineer. He retired from NASA in 1974 as an Aerospace Engineer. He was a member of the Lincoln County Historical Society, the Lincoln County Genealogical Society, Sons of the American Revolution and a member of the American Legion for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Kenneth and a son John C. Moore III.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years Florence Valentine Davies Moore, a grandson Brian Moore and wife Kelly of Tampa, FL, a granddaughter Jennifer Moore Roberts and husband David of Birmingham, AL and a great-grandson David Roberts.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 11-1 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
