A visitation for Mr. Jerry Lavon Cashion, age 89, of Petersburg, Tennessee, will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. A private interment will follow at Old Orchard Cemetery, at a later date.
Jerry was born at home in Petersburg on December 11, 1935, to the late Joseph Leroy Cashion and Selma Casteel Cashion. He lived for many years in Nashville but returned home to his roots in Lincoln County. Jerry was known for his strong work ethic and deep love of the land. He spent much of his time working alongside his son on the family’s Wells Hollow Cattle Farm. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was an avid fan of University of Tennessee football. He passed away peacefully at his residence on May 22, 2025.
Jerry is survived by his son, Terry R. Cashion and wife Theresa; grandson, Jerry Forrest Cashion; granddaughter, Shila Thapa and wife Camila; great-granddaughter, Sienna Thapa; sisters, Louise Markham and Winnie Espy; brothers, Louis Cashion and Roy Lee Cashion; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Wells Cashion; granddaughter, Rebecca Jean Cashion; brothers, Willie Boyd Cashion, Herbert Cashion, W.J. Cashion, and Vestle Cashion; and sisters, Elise Welch and Jo Murriel Pigg.

My sincere sympathy in the loss of Jerry.. I didn’t know him but I am sure he was a good man if he was Mr. Joe & Mrs. Selma’s son. They raised some fine children. Louise, & Louis, I am so sorry. Y’all have had some great losses recently.
