Obituary
Harold Moore, age 78, died Thursday (Feb 5, 2009) at his home in Fayetteville after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinsons Disease. A son of the late Ozro and Lillie Mae McAnally Moore, he is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Betsy Peele Moore. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter Kimberly Leasure and younger brother Jerry Moore. Survivors in addition to his wife, are daughters Dianne Prosser and husband, Joe, of Fayetteville, Linda Wilson and husband, Allen, of Roebuck, S.C. and Susan Graham and husband, Glen, of Fayetteville; four sisters; two brothers; six grandchildren; one great grandson; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Wayne County, Tennessee High School, he served four years in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant, discharged in 1954. He graduated from Tennessee Tech as a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society in 1958 with a degree in civil engineering. He was project engineer for Dupont Co. for 10 years, where he was honored for “Suggestor of the Year.” He moved to Fayetteville in 1968 and joined CFW Construction Co. until 1976 when he started his own construction company, Harold Moore and Associates. In the late 1980s he was recognized by Professional Builders magazine as one of the top builders of multi-family housing and commercial building. He was the owner and operator of HM Management Co. until his death.
A respected member of the community and a mentor to many, he was an elder at the First Presbyterian Church and a member of numerous organizations.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 PM the Fayetteville First Presbyterian Church with Todd Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 PM Saturday evening at Higgins Funeral Home.
Memorial donations can be made to the Fayetteville First Presbyterian Church, the Tennessee Tech University College of Engineering Endowment, the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the charity of your choice.
