Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. DB Smith, age 83, of Fayetteville, will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Champ Cemetery. Mr. Smith passed away Friday evening in Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Smith was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late HC and Betty Taylor Smith. He worked at the Redstone Arsenal, where he started work as a temporary employee and worked until his retirement many years later. He was a member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife Anita Smith of Fayetteville, son Ken (Leslie King) Smith of Pulaski, VA, daughter Donna Belinda (Matthew Talbot) Smith of Nashville, TN, grandsons Lee Nicholas Smith and Nathan Boyd Smith, special family friend Gail Dempsey, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brothers Dillon Smith and HC Smith, Jr., and a sister Beulah Mae Smith Manley.

Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Tennessee Athletic Department Scholarship Fund, The University of Tennessee Foundation, 600 Henley Street, Suite B022, Knoxville, TN 37996-4103 or the American Diabetic Association.
