A graveside service for Charles Edward “Charlie” Simmons, age 80, of Petersburg, TN, will be held at 12 PM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Mulberry Cemetery with Bro. Randy Groce officiating. There will be no visitation with the family prior to the service.
Charlie was born May 10, 1945, in Lincoln County, TN to the late Jack and Margaret Simmons. He spent much of his life working in farming, from row crops to cattle, and also enjoyed logging. Charlie was a natural tinkerer who could fix just about anything. He loved to joke and play tricks on those around him, watching Duck Dynasty, and collecting ball caps. Above all, he dearly loved his family, who will miss him greatly.
Survivors include his siblings, Betty Spray, Helen (James) Owen, Debbie (Charles Jr.) Allen, and Ricky (Paula) Simmons; several nieces and nephews, including special ones, Daulton (Sarah) Simmons and Cody Simmons; many great-nieces and great-nephews; extended family members and friends; and his beloved canine companion, Sassy. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his sisters, Margie Simmons and Nell Livingston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln County High School FFA Chapter, 1233 Huntsville Highway, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Charles Edward “Charlie” Simmons.
