Funeral services for Mr. Charles Clifton Burton, age 76, of Petersburg, will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Spencer Thompson and Lynn Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Mr. Burton was a native of Lincoln County, Tennessee and son of the late Claude Everette and Beulah Christine Cooper Burton. He retired after 20 years of service to his country as a Gunners Mate Technician in the US Navy. After retirement Mr. Burton framed homes, enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Viola Fortin Burton of Petersburg; daughter Lisa Burton (Adam) Stark of Peoria, IL; grandson Wyatt Sawyer Stark; sister Peggy (Doug) Cowan; and step-sister Judy (Johnny) Hurt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his brothers Jack, Bob and Larry Burton; step-mom Josie Williams Burton and step-brothers Leonard, James, Jerry and Dwight Williams.
Visitation with the family will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Charles Clifton Burton.
