Obituary

It is with sadness and broken hearts that we share that Amy Beth Johnson Holcomb completed her earthly journey on November 7, 2025.

Amy was born on April 7, 1949, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to William Rufus and Sara Frances Hamilton Johnson. She grew up in Elora, where she made lifelong friends. She played basketball for Huntland High School and graduated with the Class of 1967, a proud Hornet through and through.

She met the love of her life, Johnny Holcomb and they shared fifty-three wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, hard work and deep love.

Amy spent many years serving the community as Deputy Clerk for the Lincoln County Circuit Court, where her sharp mind, kindness, and sense of humor brightened every day. She was also a faithful member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.

She loved her home tucked away in the woods, where she found peace and serenity in the beauty of nature. Amy was known for her quick wit, big heart, and the way she made everyone feel welcome.

Amy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her two well-loved sons, Kelly (Lorie) and Kyle (Beth) Holcomb, who made her endlessly proud. She adored her grandchildren; Ben (Natale) and Hannah Holcomb, Kellyn (Donovan) Sims, Jalyn (Will) Pruitt, Jameson Holcomb, and her great-grandson, Jett Sims.

She is also survived by her loving big sister, Randee Lyn Johnson Crosby, niece, Molly Anne Simmons and her brother, Edward Counts.

Amy was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, and her two sisters, Nancy Harmon and Louise Marcum.

Her love, laughter, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday November 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Vann officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

A special word of gratitude to the exceptional staff at Bailey Manor who took such wonderful care of Amy during her time there. They became honorary family members during these difficult three years. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of her.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Amy Beth Johnson Holcomb.

Mrs. Amy will be greatly missed by all the staff at Bailey Manor. She didn’t make an impact on just a few staff members but all of us. She still held on to her quick wit and was hilarious. Her and her family will forever hold a place in our hearts.
