Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Judy Faye Ivey Phillips, age 77, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Flintville Cemetery beside her husband of almost 57 years Billy Ray Phillips, who passed away in 2018.

Mrs. Phillips was born on September 6, 1942 in Flintville, TN to the late Ulas Leon and Georgia Shields Ivey. She worked at Serbin, the Fayetteville Medical Clinic, and in the office of Dr. Earl Jeffres before retiring. She was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ.

She was blessed to have so many loving, caring friends who have been especially supportive of her over the past two years. She was a 1960 graduate of Flintville High School and treasured the time she spent with all of her classmates at her monthly class luncheons and yearly class reunions.

Mrs. Phillips passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 25, 2020.
Survivors include her daughters Tamberly (Laron) Pendergrass of Nashville, TN and Tracie (Mike) McEnery of Harvest, AL; step-granddaughters Nancy, Molly and Emily McEnery; step-great-granddaughter Naomi McEnery; brother Billy Floyd (Imogene) Shields of Flintville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be two hours prior to the service, from 9:00 until 11:00 AM, at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, TN.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Judy Faye Ivey Phillips.

To her girls: Judy was one of those girls when I first came to Flintville that gave me a sense of belonging. I’ve always loved and admired her. I’ve seen her several times over the last few years. We had discussions when both our spouses were suffering loses of health and mental abilities.
Know that she was a friend and a loved acquaintance.

My prayers and thoughts are with Sister Judy’s family. She was the salt of the earth. She was always encouraging in our sunday school class and loved by all. I am going to miss her calls of encouragement. She is now with Brother Bill in heaven watching over their family and friends. Again prayers for the family.

My sympathy to you all. Judy was a very special lady. She & I talked several times as our spouses both suffered the same disease at the same time. I worshiped with her as well. I am just so sorry for your loss, but I know she was ready for heaven. Your mom was just the kindest lady. God bless you as you cling to all the special memories.
